That should be interesting. They won't stop illegal entry into their country, but will try to stop citizens from legally leaving?
Screw it, they can't stop a million people that all decide to leave at one time, at least not without committing legal murders. They can't stop people from selling everything and just leaving.
Yes they can. The U.S. does. Not universally applied, but I live in Japan and unless I accept being a Trojan horse for the U.S., I cannot sell anything here as all my transactions are reported to the U.S. and non U.S. citizens do not want their financial data shared with the U.S..
Heck, there is no place to run except the jungles of South America with the drug lords or the jungles of Africa with the wild animals. The demons have infiltrated every country. Right now, Russia sounds like the best choice, but it’s too cold there. I’m thinking God will need to come get me sooner than later. It is beautiful, and there is perfect weather in God’s home, and I’ve heard the choir is amazing. . Please pray every day for our beautiful, free America.
As I have been trying to warn about for a full decade, once the U.S. FATCA law takes root, other countries will follow suit and they have. The OECD’s Common Reporting Standards (CRS) are now reality. Once this system is fully online, no one will be able to live outside the land of their birth regardless of their nationality or nationalities; or, if they can, each and every financial transaction will be tracked and subject to prior approval from all nations involved, including countries of birth, nationality and location.
No sir, it was not. It was passed under Obama in 2010. I studied this extensively for 6 or 7 years or so as I sought relief for myself and my nonUS citizen family from it. However, the Patriot Act which was passed under Bush and signed by him laid much of the groundwork for FATCA. Oh, and after the dems failed at least 3 times to link passports to FATCA, a republican senator, Orin Hatch, finally got this provision through for Obama to sign.
TherThere's already too much information for law-enforcement and government to solve the most basic crime. All that will do is convoluted more. Not happening anyway.
What’s not happening? Every single electronic transaction I make in Japan, which is all my pay and bills and many more, where I have lived for over 25 years in total is reported to the US. I now have to provide banks and other Financial Institutions with my US SSN to open a new account. My kids, who are Japanese citizens have been denied the savings plans we preferred for them because of my citizenship. And, none of this is new, goes back nearly a full decade.
The US was one of only 2 countries in the entire would that required its citizens to pay taxes while living abroad. The other was Eritrea. Since the US passed FATCA and forced every nation on the planet to spy on anyone the US deemed a “US Person”, other countries are now implementing their own versions. The OECD now has their Common Reporting Standards (CRS) that it hopes to be very much like FATCA. I live in Japan and thus pay taxes to Japan as it provides services that I use use; schools for my kids, the roads and bridges I drive on, etc. what services does the US provide me as I live in Japan?
It was Senator Rand Paul who, during a debate about America's southern border wall during the early years of Trump's first term, presciently remarked that "Governments also use walls to keep people IN country".

But then again, it is the UK.

Do note that FACTA was passed by (drum roll) George W. Bush, Mister Patriot Act himself.

You're talking about different pieces of legislation. I made the same mistake.
FATCA was passed in 2010.
Obviously selective policing or rare policing. Like Trump hasn't violated that hundreds of times?

Don't people have to pay taxes even if they live abroad? A person would have to change citizenship. Welp, perhaps move to another country?
It depends, perhaps you should read Kitsume, with his experiences in Japan. Depressing.

That’s what our government will do, eventually.
Starmer gonna prove Maggie correct. Socialism. Other peoples’ money. Finite.
