Brilliant.

I've been reading too much doom and gloom, so this was perfect to lighten the mood.

Thank you.

Awesome story I love the bumper sticker idea. If it was too close to the old It's not just a good idea. It's the law 55 mph stickers in color and formatting most people wouldn't read it and would fill in the blanks of what they think it said. I guess the trick is to make it close in formatting and design to the original but different enough that they read it. The VW had me remembering a meme I saw where a guy is scratching his head on a VW as he peers under the hood, with the caption "What's wrong with this picture? Just post got it and don't give the answer away." I got it before...Cool bug!

My favorite one used to be, "Sleepy drivers rest in pieces."

This is sooooo great. I think it was before I signed on to your page.

I've been wanting a bumper sticker like above that says "I Brake for Tailgaters." And I do. ;)

Love your story! I love beetle bugs! My Dad had one, nothing as slick as yours, a bit ‘rustic’, shall we say…he crafted a giant wind-up-key and put it on the back, looked like a giant version of those old wind up toys from the 60’s. It turned a lot of heads, as I’m sure your bug did. (My first car was also a beetle 🪲)

My first was my Dad's old 61 VW service van. Windows only in the back doors, painted flat white, broken starter, only front seats, worn out 2cnd gear synchros.. Very easy to push start.

Haha you just reminded me…we lived on the top of a hill, and my Dad would always park his bug facing downhill so he could push start it! Fun times 😄

Nice memory and awesome bug! We definitely need more of that type of bummer sticker today, too many bad ideas that are law.

Edwin, your bug was a beast!

My all-time-favorite was "Sleepy drivers rest in pieces," but the NH license plate also gave me a good laugh, because it read like a curse "Live free, or die!" Also, municipal trash cans had this ingenuous warning on them, "Trash only!" "Oh, well," I said to myself, "I'm not allowed."
