My father took me to the library every week and i read 5 books I loved. I was told grades were not important...it was better to be well adjusted. It took me a long time to really learn...that much of what I was taught as a child...was very valid. He said, "Don't believe that everything you read is the truth...just because its printed in a a book." Now, I am really aware that docotors spend a lot of money going to school, but they don't learn anything about how to prevent illness or heal anyone.
The thing about school is that it was a long time ago. I was never the compliant one, the follower, but I didn't misbehave too much. I feel like I saw through most of the crap, though, from a very early age. It was a game, you had to get through it. I didn't fancy doing stupid things, even if I've done my own share of dumb things, and as I approach the old man stage, I grow weary still of having to care about so many things that just don't matter. I always did okay in school, never excelled except at the important thing which was test taking, and that got me through. Mom was fine with B's; she was a D student.
Now, you didn't really have to do it. You could have been one of those that curse the rest of us for being slaves to the system they could not advance in. But like with everything else, there is a balance. If you're not a god and not a soldier and not a genius or blessed with great charisma, you have find your own balance between obedience and rebellion. I wish, perhaps, I had been more rebellious, but I was put where I was when I was with whom I was. Imagine if we were all rebels.

Another great article from the good doctor. He is spot on about the consequences of today's education. Some of the "mandates" of education that he attributes to society are actually from government.
While millions of vaccine doses are made using chicken eggs each year, experts say the current egg shortage won't hamper next year's flu vaccine production cycle.
Previous bird flu outbreaks and decades-old public health infrastructure have led industry to protect the hens used for vaccine production, experts told MedPage Today. Moreover, flu vaccines that don't require eggs are available, and mRNA-based flu shots are in development.

Well said, Dr. Coleman. And not only the education system is like this but the corporate world is too. Play the game, don't ask questions, get along, and you'll go far. Ask questions, resist the conformity, be an independent thinker, and they will (try) to make you an example and either kick you out or not let you go far up the ladder.
School was the first assault on night owls who are forced, for a lifetime, to be early birds. Night owls are the human creatives, those who want and need to live spontaneously. They are the human subset being destroyed from the first day they go to school, where from day 1, compliance to the clock is going to take control of the rest of their lives.
He looks cold, and it is dark.
The cost to heat must be high in England also.
This past month cost me $463 for heat (nat gas), plus $222 for electricity (averaged bill). I live in the Deep South!
I can’t imagine it being worse but it is!

The old Prussian model . It worked for the Kaiser so Horace Mann brought it to US
