Thanks for posting this - learned a few things. Going to get an AR-15 as soon as I can scrape together sufficient funds.

"WROL" there is no longer "Rule of Law" in these USSA. Rule of Men-people is the Rule now. Words have no meaning, or perverted meanings. The democRat Coup gov and it's Bolshevik sycophants are Conducting the Dissolution of the Remnants of our Former Republic into a Demoncrazy.

Even Blind Sheeples ......... nevermind, It Is What It Is, Comrades.

Hell, their's anti-law, practiced by the Law itself, imprision someone for standing their ground, yet let a rapist go free for nothing to do it again.

Yes, all civilian "weapons" are banned in many countries, and where they are not totally banned, there is no castle law. As gun registration is relatively new and is not everywhere in the US, collecting civilian guns would bring next to no results in the US, especially after considering the people's natural reluctance to comply in potential cases. It's not logical, either, because if the globalists want to reduce the population, it's enough for them to start food/water/energy shortages, and a well-armed, but starving population might just do the favor, especially if helped out by criminal elements from Antifa or BLM.

The AR is, indeed, primarily for self-defense, although the ammo is too powerful and it can also go through walls or several unintended targets (well, a 5.56 can always shoot a .223 HP with sufficient energy without demolishing the neighborhood), which requires extreme caution even in cases of self-defense. Of course, I'm not advocating its prohibition; it's fun to shoot, and most people, including police, never have to fire a weapon for real.

Isn't it more logical to get a .300 BLK caliber that can be used for self-defense as well large game? It also works best with a suppressor, which is better during hunting (the sound turns multidirectional) and is a must for self-defense in closed places even with subsonic ammo, unless one wants to go deaf. In fact, suppressors are artificially overprices even without the $200 tax stamp on them, but they are indispensable in threatening situations. No, they don't go "pop" with regular ammo, as in the movies, but the sound of the shot goes down to that of a jet engine.

Nope, 5.56 is plenty of lethal not to have to go some oddball caliber.

I have specifically not gotten into .300 BLK for the simple reason it is another round I don't want to have to stockpile.

I also have .308, but it is more for long range, I do however find 7.62X39 to be very useful, as a matter of fact the M-92 (SBR) is my number one weapon here.

I was talking about hunting deer... For that, a 5.56 is not exactly ideal and a .300 BLK can perform the task better and it's better for self-defense. Ammo is certainly cheaper than the alternatives, but it's also dangerous for self-defense b.o high penetration though walls and, well, who knows what else. And it's still darn loud even with a suppressor, especially indoors. The M92 is more powerful, but the ammo used to be cheap from Russian stockpiles. It's better for hunting and even worse for self-defense.

I've got an assload of 7.62X39, the Zastava, and it is perfect for self defense.

A 7.62 can go through six or seven people. That will be perfect, once the zombies attack. :)

Chicago Drug gangs, have no problem finding weapons since twice they broke into a rail car of weapons being shipped from the east to the west! The gun manufacture has probably learned by now to bypass Illinois in their shipments! I guess the only thing I can get is an old fashion peashooter!

Assault weapon is a term that means whatever the state wants it to mean, just as it is with so many other terms. In the early 90s a couple of ATF goons showed up at a Civil War reenactment with a hacksaw demanding that all there cut down the barrels of their assault weapons just behind the forward site. The forward site on many military weapons of that era doubled as bayonet lugs and that is what these ATFers took to mean “assault weapon”.

Taken as it’s true meaning “assault weapons” would include muzzle loaders, pikes and even rocks. This separation of firearms into what is and is not permitted is inconsistent with the wording of the second amendment. Private organizations and individuals owed cannon. The Mormons had their own brigade and offered their their service to the US army during the Mexican war.

As many others have pointed out, those who voted for the second amendment hadn’t just returned from a hunting trip, they had just defeated arguably the strongest military power of their day; their own government’s army and navy. The second amendment was to allow ordinary citizens the power to say “No” to a tyrannical government and have the force to defend that statement.

If the 2nd amendment doesn't cover the AR-15, then computers, the internet, and social media aren't covered by the first. Just saying.

An interesting piece for me. I don't know a lot about weapons. Thanks for explaining this stuff in an easy to understand format. My stepson lives in Illinois and did make the decision to "store" his "assault" weapons in another state for now. I'm hoping this goes to the SCOTUS and they overturn the District of Columbia ruling.

In Canada they have taken away the right to own a hand gun. Yet criminals have no problem obtaining them and if you have a 3D printer you can make yourself a plastic one.
