Sad isn’t it . My son sent thank you cards to an event he got invited to . He got a phone call back , that he was the only person who wrote a thank you , in cursive, the rest all emails. The event coordinator was quite impressed…. Again , sad isn’t it.
Years ago, but not many (2010), I sent a letter to a government agency thanking them for their quick response, or precisely their agent’s quick response to a potentially problematical situation. I was totally sincere in this letter, including my personal thanks and signature in cursive.
Later that year, Mr. Christmas, the agent that so rapidly gotten back to me, came by just to thank me, no inspection, he was just in the area and wanted to personally thank me, casually mentioning that the letter had been posted on the division’s bulletin board as ‘how it is done.’ He remarked how some new hires couldn’t read my simple statement of thanks, and of course not my signature (pharmacist for 38 years, now retired).
Mr. Christmas, interesting name! Sad that some new hires couldn't read the writing, we used to call that illiterate and people used to be embarrassed if they didn't know how to write.
Sounds like you did a very fine job of raising him! Kudos to you and to him. Writing a thank you note is something I was brought up to do, I'm 70 y.o. hardly anyone does that any more. but those who do are certainly remembered and for good reason.
I gave my pre-teen granddaughter at age 12, some silver and turquoise rings, poor child was embarrassed because she had to ask her mom what the cursive note said. To this day she prints. Which invalidates DL, checks, and legal docs. Among many other 'signatures' required items like a passport. Even my totally illiterate only Uncle was taught by my grandfather to write his name in cursive.
Save the Children is a “non-government organization” (NGO). It appears to be a CIA front that receives taxpayer funding from USAID, the State Department, and donations from gullible Americans.
Save the Children was expelled from Pakistan in 2011 when one of its CIA officers was caught administering fake vaccines to women and children. The people thought their kids were getting the polio vaccine, but it was just some spying operation that the CIA was running.
It doesn’t take the author of The Art of the Deal to see that anchor babies are a bad deal for the United States. When illegal immigrants are given the full privileges of citizenship merely for the act of having a child within the physical confines of the United States, it devalues citizenship for us all.
Anchor babies are a legal way for someone to skip the line and bypass all of the vetting done to much more highly-skilled prospects who wait patiently for years to have their chance at the American dream. It’s no wonder President Trump has been such a vocal opponent of these bad-deal policies.
If you talked to most liberals about ending anchor baby policies, they would act like you are trying to outlaw apple pie or something. Giving citizenship to anchor babies is not some great American institution. There is absolutely nothing in the Constitution about it.
The open border types like to point to the Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which guarantees citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” However, they conveniently gloss over the part about being “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” Just because someone happens to be standing on American soil doesn’t necessarily put them under our jurisdiction. They are subject to the jurisdiction of the nation who’s citizenship they hold. Any legal or constitutional scholar worth their salt will say the same thing. Anchor baby policies are not constitutionally protected. The only thing they are protected by is supremacist judges.
If these policies are so bad and have such flimsy legal standing, you are probably wondering what it would take to get rid of them. The truth is all it would take to fix this huge gap in our immigration system is for Congress to make the change. That’s exactly what conservative legislators have been trying to do for years and they need our help. If we are going to shake Congress into action, we must let our legislators know that we want no more anchor babies in America.
May we who were blessed with the three most necessary teachings of reading, writing and arithmetic be proud to be able to do these simple processes. I was dumbfounded by a dog sitter of mine, age 16 not being able to read cursive notes that I left for her to care for my beloved pooch Ezekiel. She went to a Catholic high school and couldn't interpret my very important notes.
Birthright Citizenship: A Fundamental Misunderstanding of the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment doesn’t say that all persons born in the U.S. are citizens.
Its original meaning refers to the political allegiance of an individual and the jurisdiction that a foreign government has over that individual. Birthright citizenship has been implemented by executive fiat, not because it is required by federal law or the Constitution.

Shocking, how quickly it has been ‘forgotten.’

The dumbing down of the American educational system is over.

I hope they aren't going to teach them via an APP!
