I am nearly finished reading "Peter the Great, His life and World" by Peter Massie. 1980

From my reading, this author should do more research into the time of the Tsars including Catherine the Great. The history of the area known as Ukraine has for centuries , been a monopoly piece, fought over by several leading powers of that time. (16th, 17th 18th, 19th centuries and up to the Bolshevic take over of Russia, when the Jewish led revolution murdered the final Tsar and all his Christian family). The conflicts throughout the region were not only a battle of ethnicities but of the great Religions, Orthodox, Protestant (See Charles XII of Sweden and the battle of Poltava in the area known as Ukraine) and Catholic Christianity as well as Mohammadan Islam.

As to the so called Color Revolution in 2014, spurred by the Obama Administration and pushed be NeoCon Victoria Nuland, and the subsequent 8 year bombing campaign of the region known as the Crimea, leading to the limited military incursion so protect the native Russian speaking people of that region, we today face the consequences of those actions.
